IAN CLAYTON, Barnsley Town Hall 1991.

Storyteller, broadcaster and author, Ian Clayton has been a friend and travelling companion for more years than I can remember. He is a good man and a credit to his home town of Featherstone and the county of Yorkshire.

This photograph was taken in the gents’ urinal in Barnsley Town Hall. I can’t remember what we were doing in Barnsley but I do remember Ian introducing me to his mate Barry Hines, author of Kes.

Record Collector, the UK’s longest running music magazine, was spot on when it said that Ian’s Bringing It All Back Home was one of the finest books ever written about music.

Bringing It All Back Home (and other works by Ian Clayton) is published by Route. Route is based in Pontefract and its impressive international catalogue features memoirs, biographies, music, film and novels by some of the finest writers around today.
