GIRL IN A SHELL SUIT, Pontefract 1991.
This ‘shell suit’ was made by my daughter Sarah, as part of a ‘Found Objects’ project on her college Art Foundation Course. It’s modelled by her friend Paula.
I used an ordinary table lamp angled in different positions until the lighting effect I wanted was achieved. The photograph was once described as ‘a cross between a Man Ray and a Diane Arbus,’ which is something I wouldn’t argue with though it would have been subconscious at the time.
